The first thing most restaurants bring you is bread and a dipping sauce. People love bread, and many people will eat too much bread before their meals. I want people to explore their love for bread and their connection to it. Often when I eat bread it soothes and gives me a feeling of warmth reminding me of the gentleness of my mother. My hope is the costumer will share these experiences when they unwrap the package, cut into their own fresh warm bread and take their first bite.
I displayed five final implications; a wide wooden board with the cooking varieties of bread. I’ve also made wooden and acrylic logos carved with the names of bread in different languages (French, German, Arabic). The newspaper wrapping will be in 3D. In addition, the paper bags will be printed with the logo. Finally, I used newspaper to create a 2-dimensional menu.
I chose the newspaper because adults always grab a newspaper to read with the breakfast or morning meal. The orange colour gives the café a feeling of warm bread and reminds them of breakfast because you usually have orange juice for breakfast. I used simple illustrations and the colourful circle to create an image achieving simplicity and an earthy feeling. My designs have a universal appeal, thus attracting bread lovers from all across the world.
