I chose to package “rusks” because they are part of the local daily diet. They are considered as being healthy as they include herbs and things that are good for you in the morning meal or diet. It’s also a fast meal, and you just add it to your tea or your karak. It’s not limited to any age – kids and adults all eat it. The original packaging of rusks in Doha – usually comes in large quantities. Once it’s opened, it doesn’t get resealed and then it can have dirt in the package. This doesn’t preserve the food in a good way. I decided to create a package for individual uses – this will allow one or two people to use rusks and limit food waste. The package I chose is a sustainable one. It allows an individual to reseal it.
I chose something to look organic. People are now obsessed with buying organic things, and because this is part of their daily routine; it will sell out even more. In order to take photos of the final package, I went to Souq Waqif because I wanted my package to stand out in a local place. I wanted to display my package in the window, to see how passers by would see it. I also experimented with angles and lighting, shadows.
